A well-rounded squad is considered the key to a team's success in championships played on a points-based basis. And in Petkovic's opinion, just as in 2009, Flamengo is fully capable of contending for the top spots in the Brazilian Championship.
"We'll have the chance to fight for the top spots. We're growing, playing better and better, and if we continue like this, we're likely to have great results," he said.
The Serbian believes that all members of the squad have the ability to compete for a starting spot, and that there is healthy competition among the various options Rogério has to choose from for the team.
"Every player here, when cleared by the physical and medical department, the coach can use them because they're ready. Everyone here is capable and is fighting for a spot. We have healthy competition, we've strengthened the attack, and I think our team is almost complete. We just need to gel, start playing with everyone, and win games," said the supporter, who praised the newly signed Diogo.
"Diogo is a good player, young, who did well at Portuguesa and Olympiacos, has already completed preseason, is in good physical shape, and will help us when he debuts. He's struggling to get into the swing of things while playing, but he's flying," he concluded.
