Petkovic's connection with Flamengo has been strong ever since 2001, when the number 10 scored a historic goal in a 3-1 victory over Vasco in the final of that year's Campeonato Carioca. Nine years later, and with another historic title under his belt, Petkovic remains highly regarded by the fans, his teammates, and the club. Motivated for the second half of the year, he assures that he is aware of the pressure the team will face in the upcoming Brasileirão matches.

"You always have to expect a lot from Flamengo. It's a club with a name, history, and, of course, a lot of responsibility. We're the current Brazilian champions, and we'll go out on the field defending that every game," he said.

For Pet, it's crucial that Flamengo starts the second half of the year on the right foot. The Gávea number 10 sees the derby against Botafogo next Wednesday (July 14.07) as a turning point in the season and believes a victory is essential for a positive run in the Brasileirão.

"Because it's a derby, regardless of who's playing better, there's no guarantee of a result. It's the season's reopening, and the opportunities are there. We have to put in the work and improve even more. We'll restart after the break, and we always want to start well, on the right foot. That's important," noted the player, who demonstrated confidence in the squad's potential.

"We're banking on our quality, our desire, and the good work we did in Itu. We're aware of our limitations, but we also know our potential. I can't guarantee it, but we can win the match. I'm always optimistic and confident," he added.
