Petkovic avoids euphoria despite positive streak

A standout in Flamengo's return to the Brasileirão, the Serbian expects even more commitment from the team.

If Flamengo's fans and even its own players are celebrating the right start to the second half of 2010, Petkovic has a big responsibility. The foreigner started the play for Paulo Sérgio's goal against Botafogo last Wednesday (July 14.07th) with a masterful pass, and scored the winning goal from the penalty spot against Atlético-GO on Sunday (July 18.07th).

Despite becoming a hero in these first red-black commitments upon returning to the Brasileirão after the World Cup, Pet maintains a calm demeanor and guarantees that there is still not much to celebrate.

"We still have 29 more rounds to go. There are many games left, winning is always the goal, but we'll take it game by game because we haven't won anything. The group deserves congratulations, but it's too early to celebrate," said the Serb, who reaffirmed Flamengo's responsibility to have a good campaign in the Brazilian Championship.

"We're defending our title and we know the responsibility we have in this championship. We're the current Brazilian champions and we'll go out on the field defending that in every game," he added.
