The chants of "Pet" and the applause from the stands before and after each of the Serbian's performances at the Maracanã leave no doubt that he is one of the greatest idols of the Flamengo fans. Not only in the current squad but throughout the history of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo. With each game, growing in experience and proving his importance to the squad, the number 10 doesn't hide his happiness at this recognition and at continuing to help the Flamengo on the field.

As he did on Wednesday night (14.07), against Botafogo. Demonstrating great physical strength and author of a brilliant pass that started the play for Paulo Sérgio's goal, Pet left the field, once again, applauded by the fans and satisfied with the football that the team presented.

"This match means a lot to us. We needed this victory. It was very important, because we beat the state champion. At Flamengo, there's always suffering. But everything the club has achieved in its long history has been on the field, not off it. We have to continue our work," said Petkovic, who only thinks about bringing ever more joy to the fans.

"We started the Brazilian Championship well and we'll continue like that. The victory was very important. Here on the field we give our best and with will and victories, we will bring joy back to Flamengo fans," he added.

Coach Rogério Lourenço was very pleased with Petkovic's performance and praised the midfielder's physical fitness and talent.

"Petkovic's talent doesn't need commenting. With one ball, he can decide a game, as he did today. These days have been very fruitful for him, as he played a great game today and could easily have stayed on the field for the full 90 minutes. He's happy, working with Toninho Oliveira (fitness coach), who knows him well, and he's a very important player for the group," he concluded.
