When he left the field last Wednesday (02.06), against Palmeiras, crying and injured, Petkovic knew he could be left out of the game against Goiás, next Saturday (05.06), at Maracanã, Flamengo's last before the Brasileirão break for the World Cup. When he landed with the red-black delegation, on the afternoon of this Thursday (03.06), in Rio de Janeiro, the midfielder was still limping and worried the club's Medical Department.
Intending to get better as quickly as possible, Pet went to Gávea to continue treatment, accompanied by some members of the red-black Medical Department.
"I felt a lot of pain, but that happens. They said it was a bad scene, but Flamengo won. That's what matters. I'm going to Gávea to treat the injury, but it's going to be difficult to play on Saturday," said the player.
Petkovic suffered a hard tackle from behind on his left ankle from Pierre during Flamengo's 1-0 Brasileirão victory over Palmeiras. After being evaluated by club doctors in São Paulo, he was already doubtful for the match against Goiás, but a definitive answer has not yet been given.
"I think it's unlikely Pet will participate in the match. We'll reevaluate him, but the situation isn't very favorable," said Márcio Tannure, Flamengo's doctor.
