Continuing the physical and medical evaluations, which began this Saturday (13) after the group that was on vacation returned, laboratory tests were carried out with the athletes fasting. In addition to blood collection, body composition was also measured this Sunday (14).
Physical exercises continued this morning's workout. Groups were divided into two activities. At Flamengo's Performance Excellence Center (CEP FLA), physical trainers Roberto Oliveira and Fábio Eiras led strength tests. Also at the gym, physical therapist Fred Manhães guided goalkeeper Diego Alves through specific reconditioning exercises.
Meanwhile, on Field 3, scientific coordinator Daniel Gonçalves and physical trainer Gustavo Araújo assessed the athletes' endurance levels using the "Yo-Yo Test," which consists of running back and forth along a straight line with gradual increases in speed. They complemented the activities with exercise on a stationary bike for those who worked out in the gym and running for those who went to the field.
Simultaneously, at Field 4, the players who showed up on January 4th played a training match against Resende Esporte Clube. With goals from right-back Kleber and center forward Wendel, Mais Querido beat their opponents 2-0. This was the first test for coach Paulo César Carpegiani's players, aiming for their debut in the Campeonato Carioca, against Volta Redonda, which will take place on Wednesday (17).
In the afternoon, the athletes who went to the field in the morning performed a strength test in the gym, while those who were at CEP FLA underwent a resistance test on the lawn. This Monday (15), new full training will be held at Ninho do Urubu.
