Pre-season Day #12 – Words from CEP FLA professionals

By - in
As the squad prepared for the season, more measurements were taken at CT George Helal to individualize the athletes' training loads. Kicking off the morning session, the group headed to Flamengo's Performance Excellence Center (CEP FLA), where they received guidance on strength training.
Afterwards, the warm-up began on the field, followed by ball practice. Focused on maintaining possession, the athletes exchanged passes in demarcated areas of the field, divided into teams of five, with four passing while one sought interceptions. A passing run to the sidelines of Field 4 completed the activity.

Next, a new physical-technical exercise was led by scientific coordinator Daniel Gonçalves and physical trainer Gustavo Araújo. Pre-defined circuits with stakes driven into the field guided the athletes through ball handling with varying speeds.

Meanwhile, at CEP FLA, the youngsters who returned on January 4th and played in the 2-0 win against Resende Esporte Clube in a training match at Ninho do Urubu underwent recovery training. The activity also extended to the field, with light stride opening work and positional guidance in a tactical drill held on Field 5.

After the morning's activities, the group underwent dental evaluations at the new facility set up at the training center, in partnership with Orthopride. Another test performed, this time at the FLA CEP, was an echocardiogram, a test that analyzes each athlete's heart health.

In the afternoon, the physical and technical aspects continued to receive the most attention. Running on the pitch and ball handling exercises began the activities, which concluded with another ball maintenance drill. On the same pitch, the goalkeepers underwent specific training to improve reaction speed, agility, changes of direction, and increase concentration levels.

After the work day, the athletes settled into the professional module facilities, where they will remain concentrated during this pre-season.

At the end of the activities, the head of the Medical Department, Dr. Márcio Tannure; scientific coordinator Daniel Gonçalves; and physical trainer Gustavo Araújo held a press conference in the Victorino Chermont Press Room. The training routine at the beginning of the year, as well as the condition of athletes recovering from physical issues, were discussed in the conversation with reporters.
