Preseason Day #15 – Back to the CT
By Matheus Oliveira - inWith three points in hand after the 2-0 victory over Volta Redonda on Wednesday night (17), activities were resumed at Ninho do Urubu for the athletes who played in the match. Led by physical trainer Roberto Oliveira, injury prevention and specific muscle recovery exercises at Flamengo's Performance Excellence Center (CEP FLA) made up the regenerative training.
After the work at the CEP FLA facilities concluded, midfielders Ronaldo and Jonas were present in the Victorino Chermont Press Room, where they gave a press conference. Returning from a loan spell at Coritiba, where he worked with current coach Paulo César Carpegiani, Jonas celebrated the new opportunity and emphasized his intention to seize it.
"I'm returning more mature, more relaxed. I'll work every day with calm and determination to find my place and live up to the demands of the coach," said the midfielder, who, despite playing alongside players up to nine years his junior, praised the maturity of the team that took to the field at Raulino de Oliveira Stadium. "I had no greater responsibility than theirs. Just by wearing this jersey, the kids know they have a big responsibility. It was relaxed. They learn from the older players, but we also learn a lot from them," he added.
Also on loan last season, Ronaldo was one of the standout performers in the Mais Querido's debut victory in the Campeonato Carioca. Seeking to further demonstrate his development, which was enhanced by the experience gained during his time at Atlético-GO in 2017, the midfielder is planning his future wearing the Sacred Mantle.
"I'm returning more mature. I gained experience at Atlético-GO. I saw Flamengo's greatness from the outside and I know the weight of wearing this jersey. I have my responsibility and I will work hard to achieve our goals," he commented, speaking about the healthy competition for opportunities in such a qualified squad. "It will be a tough fight. Everyone here has a lot of quality. But that's a good thing for Flamengo. It will be a healthy competition, in which I will seek my place," the youngster analyzed.
In the State Championship, the next challenge will be against Cabofriense. The Most Beloved will have the support of the Nation on Ilha do Urubu in another challenge, valid for the second round of Group B of the competition. The ball will roll at the red-black house starting at 20:15 pm this Sunday (21).
