Pre-season Day #16 – Preparation Sequence
By Matheus Oliveira - inA new challenge in the Campeonato Carioca is approaching and Mais Querido has begun preparing for the clash against Cabofriense. After the 2-0 victory over Volta Redonda in the opening round, coach Paulo César Carpegiani's team will seek a new triumph this Sunday (21), counting on the support of the Nation on Ilha do Urubu.
With the match in mind, the red-black coach led tactical activity on Field 5 during the afternoon. The activity was attended by some of the young people who defended the Manto Sagrado at the Raulino de Oliveira stadium last Wednesday (17) and other Garotos do Ninho who took part in the work, in addition to some of the players who showed up on January 13. They are defender Léo Duarte, full-backs Rodinei and Renê, striker Vinicius Jr. and center forward Lincoln.
Offensive and defensive positioning received the main focus in the tactical work, with on-field analysis with the players of the strengths and weaknesses of Sunday's opponent that could be exploited. The starting lineup was outlined by Paulo César Carpegiani during the activity.
Other players continued their preseason training with two shifts at Ninho do Urubu. Technical improvement remained the focus of the workouts, which took place on Field 5 in the morning and Field 4 in the afternoon. With the exception of the five players selected to face Cabofriense, the group that returned on January 13th continues to strive for optimal physical condition for their season debut.
After pre-training exercises held at Flamengo's Performance Excellence Center (CEP FLA) and a warm-up on the field, the athletes were divided into three teams to work on passing, movement, and interceptions. Then, a small-sided practice session was held on the field to improve attacking playmaking and finishing, a training session that also took place in the afternoon.
Both the preparation for the match this Sunday (21), which will see the ball rolling at Ilha do Urubu at 20:15 pm, and the activities of the rest of the group will continue this Saturday (20).
