Pre-season Day #3 – Strength and Physical Training Work

By - in
A new day of full training marked this Saturday (06) of the red-black preseason. The intensity of the activities carried out at Ninho do Urubu increased significantly based on the data collected during the initial evaluations, which guide the individualization of each athlete's training routine.

To establish this parameter more accurately, strength exercises were conducted at Flamengo's Performance Excellence Center, coordinated by physical trainer Gustavo Araújo. Another objective of the work was to re-adapt the athletes to more intense loads and begin adjusting them individually.

In the afternoon, the group headed to the field at Field 4, where activities focused on endurance took place. The ball used in the training was the same one that will be used in the Campeonato Carioca, the tournament that will kick off the series of competitions that will mark the 2018 season.

With passing and lots of movement in various circuits established on the pitch, the players' physical and technical aspects were assessed. Initially, stretching and muscle activation exercises prepared the group for ball work.

The training then focused on maintaining possession by moving the ball quickly around the field, with five players on the perimeter and one in the center trying to intercept. A similar training session was held before the end of the ball activity, with six youth players forming one of the two teams that were determined.

Between these two sessions, the stimuli alternated in terms of movement, with passing lines drawn during runs from one area of the pitch to the next. Finally, only the players from the professional squad remained for the run that complemented today's training.

Newly promoted midfielder Jean Lucas praised the excellent work done by CEP FLA's players in this return to Ninho do Urubu, commenting on the difference compared to the youth team's activities. "It's been very beneficial for me. I came from the youth team, so everything is different. The work of the senior team is very intense. I hope it's a good week and we have a good start to the championship," he noted.

This Sunday (07), activities will take place in the morning.
