With qualification for the final of the Campeonato Carioca guaranteed after the 2-1 victory over Botafogo last Sunday (23), Flamengo's attention turns once again to the Conmebol Libertadores Bridgestone. Preparations for the clash against Atlético-PR began this Monday (24), in an activity held on the synthetic grass field of the Adolpho Bloch Israelite Cultural and Sports Center, in Barra da Tijuca.
Seeking to better adapt to the pitch at Arena da Baixada, where the match will take place, the red-and-black players performed exercises that consisted of passing, ball control, and movement, starting with the warm-up, which also included muscle activation and stretching exercises. Similarly, the training session led by goalkeeper coach Vitor Hugo focused on this better adaptation, particularly regarding ball speed when shooting on the ground.
Coach Zé Ricardo then led the group in attack-versus-defense and finishing exercises, which concluded the session. At the end of the session, assistant coach Cleber dos Santos spoke about the work done on the field.
"We had planned to help our players adapt better to the type of pitch. The real goal was to bring them in for this training session and have more contact with this type of terrain. We scheduled three activities, which consisted of players accelerating their passes, working on their approach, control, and technical skills within a pre-planned organization," explained Cleber.
The red-black delegation continues its journey to Curitiba this Monday (24). On Tuesday (25), Mais Querido will conclude its preparations for the match with an activity at Arena da Baixada.
