Mengão's goalkeeping coach, Paulo Grilo, heaps praise on Diego Alves and Hugo Souza

Flamengo's goalkeeping coach, Portuguese Paulo Grilo, is excited about the start of his work with the club. In an interview with FlaTV, he was full of praise for the club's goalkeepers, Diego Alves and Hugo Souza.
"Diego has had a brilliant career. He's a recognized goalkeeper not only in Brazil, but around the world. In Europe, everywhere. He's done some great things, he's won everything... He's a role model. He's only had three or four training sessions. But you can tell he wants more. He wants to continue, he wants to win, he wants to be happy. He wants to do better than he did in the past. He welcomed me very warmly. He's very communicative. We're always in touch, which is great," he said of Diego Alves.
"Hugo was that kid I saw in Europe... When he started playing, about two years ago, he played a few games, I went to see him. And he's a diamond right there. He's going to be a goalkeeper of the future. He's an incredible goalkeeper. He has all the potential. He has everything a coach wants in a goalkeeper. He's 22 years old, we need to know that. But he's going to enter a phase of growth where he'll naturally become a reference in Brazil, absolutely, and perhaps in Europe. Because he has potential," he said about Hugo.
Flamengo continues its preseason work hard. Still without Hugo and Diego, Mengão will debut in the Campeonato Carioca on January 26th at the Luso-Brasileiro Stadium against Portuguesa. Watch the match live and with footage on FlaTV+!
