Fitness trainer Antonio Goméz sees Flamengo as a very important challenge in his career
The Spanish team has been working hard on the physical preparation of the red-black athletes during the preseason

Mengão's new physical trainer, Spaniard Antonio Goméz, was delighted with the working conditions he found at Ninho do Urubu and believes he can do a great job at Mais Querido. In an interview with FlaTV, he spoke a little about his successful career in physical training.
"I've been working in soccer for over 20 years. In recent years, I've had professional experience with teams in England, Spain, and the Polish national team. Now I'm in Brazil facing this challenge, one of the most important in my professional career: playing for Flamengo."
"I have a PhD in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences, a university professor at the University of Murcia, and I also teach Master's programs in Sports Science at various universities throughout Europe and the world. So, I have a mixed profile because I love the work on the field, working with players, developing training sessions, and planning the season with teams. But I also love training and education. I simultaneously work as a physical trainer on the field at a collective level within a team, while also teaching at various universities."
"Now, recently, I've been working on Paulo Sousa's coaching staff. I'm very happy and grateful to the coach and the entire coaching staff because we've achieved very good integration, with their tactical periodization combined with structured training. I think we're a coaching staff and a working group where the players feel very comfortable and enjoy both training and competition."
"I was very surprised. Ninho has a fantastic structure, on par with the best clubs in the world. Beyond the structure, it's the design, the way it's organized. Everything is very well thought out and balanced. I think we'll have enough resources and materials to do a good job."
Flamengo continues its preseason at a strong pace. Before the nation sees the Spaniard's work with the main team, Mengão will send another team to the Campeonato Carioca debut, which will be on January 26th against Portuguesa, at 21:35 pm, at the Luso-Brasileiro Stadium.
