A special presence in the delegation, Leandro is confident in Flamengo's qualification for the Libertadores.
Rubro-Negro idol traveled with the team to Uruguay at the invitation of the board
By Matheus Grangeiro - inFlamengo has a more than special presence in the delegation that traveled to Uruguay in search of qualification for the next phase of the Conmebol Libertadores. World Champion (1981), Libertadores (1981), Brazilian Champion (1980, 1982 and 1983) and Carioca (1978, 1979, 1981 and 1986), among many other titles, Leandro was invited by the board to accompany the team in the decisive game against Peñarol, on Wednesday (08), at 9:30 pm, at the Campeón del Siglo Stadium. One of the greatest idols in the history of Mais Querido, the former player is confident in the red-black's qualification for the round of 16 of the competition.
"The pressure is there and will always be in such important games as this. We have excellent, young, and experienced players in the squad. They're very calm. I've come to bring good luck and the red-and-black energy of all the '81 champions. When I speak, I get emotional, because I'm conveying this strength not only from the world champion players, but from the entire nation, because I'm also a part of it. I'm confident of this qualification," he said.
Leandro thanked the board for the invitation and said he was thrilled to experience the routine of a professional player again.
"I just have to thank Flamengo for the invitation. I'm feeling very happy. I'm reliving situations from thirty years ago. I'm very excited to be part of a Flamengo delegation. I feel very comfortable at the club, and if I can help, you can always count on me," he said.
