President announces changes in the Football Department
Andrade, Marcos Braz and Eduardo Manhães left their positions this Friday

President Patrícia Amorim announced, in a press conference held on Friday afternoon (23.04), the first changes in the football department in 2010. Seeking to implement a new work philosophy, the director opted to remove coach Andrade from his position and dismiss vice-president of football Marcos Braz and director Eduardo Manhães.
After a meeting held in Gávea on Friday afternoon, the president made her decision, regardless of the club's qualification to the round of 16 of the Copa Santander Libertadores. Patricia made a point of speaking personally with everyone involved, thanking them for all their recent achievements, and only then informing everyone of her decision.
"I apologize for the delay in announcing this, but I chose to speak with the players and those involved first. I waited until we reached the next stage of the Libertadores, as these people deserve to walk out the front door of the club. After all, they gave the club a national title after 17 years," explained the president.
According to the club's president, despite the positive results, the atmosphere in the football world wasn't good, and therefore the change was necessary. Patricia believes that a calm environment is essential for working and achieving even better performance.
"We don't want a hard line. That doesn't always solve anything. What must prevail is hard work and commitment. That always helps, and positive results appear. Some things in the football department became unsustainable. I wasn't comfortable with the way football was being managed, and I want to feel joy and pleasure in being here," he said.
The president guaranteed that the names of the new coach and the new vice-president of football have not yet been defined, but will be announced soon, as Flamengo will face Corinthians next Wednesday (28.04).
"We're working with about four names. I won't reveal who, obviously. I want the fans to know that whoever arrives will implement everything we believe is right. It will be a smooth transition. Flamengo will have joy again," he concluded.
