Flamengo's president, Patricia Amorim, is confident of a successful year in 2011. The club's leader believes that the arrival of coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo has been positive for the team and speaks of a renewal in the group's spirit for the next season. Betting on the completion of the works at Ninho do Urubu (Flamengo's training center) and also pleased with the start of the revitalization project at Gávea (Flamengo's headquarters), Patricia sees the club moving in the right direction for the future.
The first step, in the football department, was the hiring of coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo, who, far more than a sideline coach, will have the responsibility of assisting in the construction of Ninho do Urubu (Flamengo's training center) and also of being a leader in the Flamengo squad.
"Vanderlei is a natural leader. Flamengo needed a commander like him. I base this on the players' statements, who were very pleased with his arrival. He is experienced, respected in football, and will help us a lot not only to climb the table and fight for titles next season, but also with the training center. We have a lot of confidence in his work," he stated.
Patricia Amorim also points out that the construction of the training center and the revitalization of Gávea are projects that are already moving forward and will yield excellent results in the near future.
"We are on the right track. We have consolidated our financial commitments, salaries are up to date, and we are starting important projects such as the revitalization of Gávea and the construction of the training center for football.
