It was a day of celebration at Gávea for Flamengo's 115th anniversary. Meanwhile, at Ninho do Urubu, coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo gave the Flamengo players no slack, as they returned for the first day of training this week, which is crucial for the team in the competition. President Patricia Amorim, who was at the club, also left a part of her heart with the football team, which is fighting to escape the bottom of the table in this year's Brazilian Championship.
Happy with the club's first anniversary under her leadership, Patricia believes there are always reasons to celebrate the greatness of the beloved club.
"Flamengo's anniversary must always be celebrated. Everyone who loves Flamengo, who is a member, a Flamengo fan, considers November 15th a special day. We will always celebrate everything Flamengo represents in our lives and everything Flamengo has achieved, which has brought us so much joy. The year has been difficult, but the club is bigger than all of that. I am certain that we will end the year well and start 2011 with all these pages turned. I am proud of everything I have done so far. I will always be by the club's side. You can be sure that if one day they try to close the club, I will be here to prevent it. This is my life," he said.
Patricia points out that, despite Flamengo's difficult moment in the championship, the team has never even been in the relegation zone, and asks for confidence so that the team can achieve its goals in the Brasileirão.
"Flamengo has never been in the relegation zone in any round. People insist on dragging Flamengo down. We need to work on this motivational factor. The players need to behave as if it's a crucial moment. We have a very important game on Saturday. It's a decisive match, just like the other two games. We need to show strength in this situation," stated the president, who called on the fans to support the team for the match against Guarani and promised to consider a promotion for ticket prices.
"Let's sit down and define this calmly. It can't go beyond tomorrow (Tuesday). We need to start the sale on Wednesday. Let's go strong and achieve a result that provides the relief that the entire nation needs," he concluded.
