President Patricia Amorim is paying close attention to everything happening in Flamengo's football operations. With the team going through a delicate moment in the Brazilian Championship, and entering a week leading up to a crucial match against Guarani at the Engenhão stadium, she left Gávea, where celebrations for the club's 115th anniversary were taking place, to visit Ninho do Urubu, in Vargem Grande, and chat with some of the players.
Unlike what often happens, however, there was no pre-game discussion in the middle of the field, nor any formal chats. The tone of the conversation was one of good-natured reprimand.
"I even joked with the players. They asked me if everything was alright. I replied that I was hoping to stay in the next round. They assured me that I would," he commented.
The president believes the visit was productive and expresses confidence in a united group to lift Flamengo from the bottom of the Brazilian Championship table and lead them to the 2011 Copa Sudamericana.
"Overall, I really enjoyed the conversation. I realized something very important: the players are focused and understand the importance of this moment. I believe everyone is prepared for this decisive phase of the competition," he concluded.
The Flamengo squad returns to work this Tuesday (November 16.11th), full-time, at Ninho do Urubu.
