President Rodolfo Landim speaks about Abel Braga's departure from Flamengo
The president gave a press conference on Wednesday afternoon at Ninho do Urubu

Abel Braga is no longer Flamengo's coach. Flamengo president Rodolfo Landim addressed the matter in a press conference held at Ninho do Urubu on Wednesday afternoon.
"The subject (of the press conference) is obviously Abel's departure. I received a phone call last night from someone saying he needed to speak with me. I spoke with Abel, and he mentioned the decision he had made after speaking with his family: to resign as Flamengo's coach. We spoke, and I understood. It's a personal issue for him," Landim said.
"We are continuing the group's work, which will be coordinated by Marcelo Salles, who is already part of the Flamengo team. At least until the Copa América break, when we will reevaluate what we will do," the president added.
In his second stint as Flamengo coach, Abel Braga led the team to 32 matches, winning 19, drawing 8, and losing 5. He scored 59 goals and conceded 29. He won the Florida Cup and the Campeonato Carioca.
Flamengo returns to the field this Saturday, at 16 pm, to face Fortaleza, at Nilton Santos Stadium, in the seventh round of the Brazilian Championship.
