After the activities held on Wednesday morning (30), president Eduardo Bandeira de Mello spoke to journalists in the press room at CT George Helal, in Vargem Grande. The disaster that occurred in Colombia, involving Chapecoense athletes and coaching staff, as well as media professionals, was the main focus of the interview. The president of the red-black team spoke about the tribute that preceded the training session, in addition to commenting on possible tributes and assistance to the club in this difficult time.

Today we took a moment to reflect on this entire situation that has affected not only Chapecoense but also the Brazilian sports press. It's a sad time for all of us, and it directly affects the players. Three of the Chapecoense players were here with us until recently; they were teammates, so they are truly shaken. What we did in the center of the field was a discreet but extremely spontaneous tribute, which touched the hearts of all the players, especially those who knew Cléber Santana, Marcelo, and Arthur Maia, as well as the media professionals who knew them, like Victorino Chermont, who could have been here. He was a friend of all of us, as were many others on the flight.

I don't think this is the right time to think about this, because the accident happened just over 24 hours ago. There are still several steps that need to be taken; the bodies probably haven't been identified, the injured are still being treated, and this is a time to think about the families of the players, journalists, and officials. Over time, we will take the necessary steps, but I think this is still the time to provide assistance to those who are suffering.

We're not worried about this issue yet, as it's not the right time yet. Several of our friends have passed away. Several families are left without assistance. It's still too early to talk in detail. Of course, Flamengo will lead any effort to get Chapecoense back on its feet, but I didn't want to go into too much detail yet, as it's something we must do in due time. This isn't a criticism of those who put forward these ideas yesterday. They're all well-intentioned people who are suffering, just like the rest of us, but I believe each issue must be resolved in its own time. Right now, let's take care of the people who need it most.

It was decided to postpone the round. The championship now ends on the 11th, instead of the 4th. The players' vacations, which were supposed to begin on the 5th, will begin on the 12th and, consequently, will extend until January 12th. We will manage this delay in the start of the preseason as best we can, understanding the context in which all this was resolved. And some of the players will certainly have their vacation logistics changed, but this was all due to a supervening situation, and we must respect it.
