On the morning of this Sunday (19), Flamengo made official the contract renewal of Alex Sandro. The left-back, who is ten days away from completing two years at the club, will continue wearing the Sacred Mantle until December 2027, continuing the journey that began in August 2024.

Since his arrival, Alex Sandro has quickly established himself as one of the team's main leaders. With experience gained over a decade in European football and with the Brazilian National Team, the number 26 has played 78 games for Flamengo, scoring one goal, providing two assists, and playing an important role in the team's recent achievements.

During that period, the 35-year-old defender won eight trophies: two Campeonato Carioca titles, one Copa do Brasil, one Supercopa Rei, one CONMEBOL Libertadores, one Campeonato Brasileiro, one FIFA Derby of the Americas, and one FIFA Challenger Cup.

With the new contract, the full-back, originally from Catanduva (SP), will continue to put his experience and level of performance at the service of Flamengo, continuing a trajectory marked by achievements and consistency on the field:

"These past two years have been very special. They went by quickly because life at Flamengo is very dynamic, and we are always focused on working and pursuing new goals. My family has also adapted very well to Rio de Janeiro; we are happy, and that was a significant factor in the decision to renew my contract. I am very happy to continue at this great club and keep fighting for titles."

After signing the new contract, football director José Boto highlighted the reasons that led the club to renew Alex Sandro's contract:

"Beyond the technical quality and tactical importance that Alex Sandro brings to the team, there's an aspect that often goes unnoticed by those who only watch the game. He's a role model for the squad, a player who transmits experience, helps keep the group united, and knows how to handle the most difficult moments of the season. When we decided on his renewal, we took all of this into consideration, because his importance goes far beyond what happens on the field."
