Priority is Love's permanence

Rogério comments on the signing of reinforcements and considers Artilheiro do Amor to be fundamental

The need for signings to bolster Flamengo's squad is acknowledged by all of the club's directors and coaching staff. It's no different with coach Rogério Lourenço. Despite this, the manager believes the biggest reinforcement the Gávea team could have is the retention of striker Vagner Love. The team's top scorer this season is linked to CSKA Moscow, and Flamengo is seeking to extend his contract with the club.

The coach commented on the issue of signings, admitted to having sounded out some players, such as Rafael Sóbis and Montillo, and confirmed that there are athletes whose negotiations are well underway to wear the Flamengo shirt.

"Zico has already spoken about the issue of confidentiality. I'm not even aware of the progress of the negotiations. We could suddenly have signings that will take a week or we could have a good surprise late this afternoon. We're seeing a commitment to building a strong group. But the priority would be Love's permanence," he stated.

Rogério reiterated that, despite the need for hiring, everything must be studied very calmly.

"If a player arrives on Monday, he'll have to do all the work from the last few days again, but we can't demand speed if it's not done in a balanced manner to avoid problems in the future. I think the board's policy is correct. We need players, but we need to look for the best, not just those who are available. And that takes a little more time. We lose in this regard, but we want to gain in quality. Flamengo has adopted a serious approach by not entering into an auction for players. I believe this is being professional, which is important," said the coach, who added jokingly about two possible names to shape the Flamengo team.

"A duo of Kaká and Messi. With Kaká having a few days to work, he can get back to his best form," he added.
