Although the need for signings for the Flamengo attack is being emphasized by the entire group and Flamengo's coaching staff, the young players responsible for taking on this role say they are ready for the task. This is the case with 18-year-old Diego Maurício, who scored one of the reserve team's goals in Friday morning's training session at Ninho do Urubu.
"I'm ready, for sure. I've improved a lot physically with this intense work we've been doing these days. I was happy with this goal in the group. I think it's important to show coach Rogério that I have the ability to help Flamengo, and that's my goal," he said.
Paulo Sérgio, 21, who moved up to the professional team in 2007 but didn't establish himself, dreams of a fresh start this season and doesn't hide his happiness at the opportunity he received from Rogério Lourenço.
"I'm very happy and I came to Flamengo with the idea of helping. I was away from the group, I was reinstated, and I'm working hard to start over here. When an opportunity presents itself, I'll do my best to seize it," said the striker, who agrees that the club needs reinforcements in this sector.
"I think this mix of young and experienced players is incredibly important. In the group that won the sixth title, for example, there were young players who were promoted, and the club stands to benefit from that. Of course, the board will make every effort to bring in reinforcements, and we're still rooting for Love to stay. He's not only a great player, but also a great person and very important to our squad," he noted.
Diego agrees with his teammate, but believes in the potential of the current Rubro-Negro squad and expresses confidence in the board's work to strengthen the group.
"Regardless of whether reinforcements are signed, I believe the group is strong and can achieve good results. I'll leave that to the board, and I'm sure they'll do their best to help Flamengo," he concluded.
