Unafraid of being below the level of his teammates, Renato hopes for a positive return to Flamengo

Renato knows he's still below his teammates both technically and physically, and needs a little more chemistry. However, he's not afraid of the responsibility of his return to the Flamengo team on Saturday (August 14.08) at Maracanã. The midfielder believes he can continue to improve and predicts that he'll be even better by next weekend's match, when he faces Atlético Paranaense on Sunday (August 22.08).
"I'm below the level of the players who have been playing, and that's normal. I was out for over a month without doing any ball work. After I came back from vacation, I did some physical work, but it's not the same as working with the group. But in a few days, I'll be fine. I'll have another full week to make up for lost time," he said.
Happy with the opportunity, he believes he shouldn't shy away from responsibility and knows that the fans, with whom he created an intense relationship during his first time at the club, will be patient and understand that he won't yet be at his best in Saturday's match.
"Expectations are high. I'm happy to know that Rogério can count on me to make my return debut at Maracanã. We know what Flamengo is like. There's no point in delaying my debut. The timing is good, with Maracanã, the fans will understand that I haven't played in a long time, but I'll do what I know how to do. I'll have difficulties, that's normal, but I'll debut without fear. It's the right time to play, in front of the fans, and of course I'm a little apprehensive, but I won't have any problems," said the player, who knows the pressure he will have to achieve good results at Flamengo.
"The fans have gotten used to it. Since the team was Brazilian champion last year, they want the same Flamengo, and we know it's a tough championship. The difference between first and last isn't that big. There's never a favorite in these games. Today we're a little far from the top four, and the fans are demanding it. Flamengo will always be held accountable, and now is the time for self-analysis to improve," he concluded.
