Right-back Rafinha gave a press conference on Monday afternoon (17) at Ninho do Urubu. Through FlaTV, the 34-year-old player answered questions sent by the press about his departure from Flamengo to defend Olympiacos, from Greece. Check out some excerpts:
With the word, Rafinha
"It's a difficult time. I came to Brazil looking for a new challenge. What stands out is that it worked out, and I achieved it. I fulfilled my dream of winning the Brazilian championship, the Libertadores, and other titles with Flamengo. That's the most important part. It's a reward for any 34-year-old player to still have a market in European football. Every player dreams of playing in Europe at 18 or 22. I, at 34, have that chance again."
Memorable moments
"My teammates are proof that I gave my all every time I stepped onto the field, always focused on achieving great things for Flamengo. At times, I sacrificed myself. For my teammates, I faced it, and it paid off. I experienced moments that will remain with me forever. The trip to the Libertadores, the arrival on top of the trio... These are things that stay in my memory."
Going to Olympiacos
"It was a very difficult decision. I had to think very carefully. I decided to accept this new challenge, which is to play in Greek football, but I leave with a broken heart. I feel a sense of accomplishment. It's something that involves a lot of things, like my family. I received the offer hours before the game against Atlético-GO. I knew there was interest from other clubs, but not Olympiacos."
Filipe Luís praises Rafinha
“We want to say that we love you! Whoever arrives will have to lick the soles of his boots to replace you. We love you” (Rafinha gets emotional).
Rafinha praises the club
"What I can sum up is the love and passion the fans have for this club. I've never seen anything like this in my life. I want to thank all the fans who helped me get through all of this. What I take away from here is nothing but passion and love. I want to thank all the fans who supported me and held me accountable when they had to."
