Recovered from injury, Diogo wants to ride the wave of the strikers' good form.
The center forward wants to follow the example of his teammates in his position and start scoring goals for Flamengo.
By From the official website team - inDiego Maurício has established himself, Val Baiano has broken his scoring drought, and Deivid is returning to his old form. The arrival of Vanderlei Luxemburgo seems to have been providential in restoring confidence to Flamengo's forwards. One of them, however, has played very little under the newly hired coach: the young Diogo.
Signed on loan from Olympiacos as a promising player, the number 43 suffered an ankle injury in Luxa's debut against Atlético-GO in Volta Redonda, and therefore left the game in the first half, missing matches against Avaí and Internacional. Now recovered, he hopes to return in great style against Vasco.
"I'm much better, what matters most is my conditioning. I was out for a week and I don't feel anything anymore. The rest is about working physically during the week," said the striker, who knows that the competition is fierce, but sees a positive side to it: the sharing of responsibility.
"This is good for Flamengo. The problem is when they lack goals. When everything is going well, it's easier. You don't have that weight, that responsibility falling solely on one person. The competition is exciting and it becomes complicated for the coach," he analyzed.
In good spirits, Diogo knows that all he needs to do is break his goal drought and shows confidence in riding the wave of his teammates' good form and also starting to shine for Flamengo.
"I need to break my goal drought, I can't wait to score, but you have to stay calm for things to happen," he concluded.
