After announcing the signings of midfielder Marquinhos and goalkeeper Vinícius, it's Cristian Borja's turn. The 22-year-old Colombian striker passed his medical exams and will be presented next Monday (July 12.07th), along with the other new signings, at Gávea. This is the seventh signing announced by Flamengo for the remainder of the season, the second for the attack.
With the physique of a center forward, Borja received the Flamengo Official Website team for a quick chat. Shy and of few words, the young Colombian talent couldn't hide his excitement about the possibility of representing the club with the largest fan base in Brazil. Furthermore, Borja seems to already know the kind of profile that the fans approve of.
"For me, it's a great opportunity to play for a club like Flamengo. I'm very happy to have signed with such a great team, one that almost everyone supports. I hope everything goes well, and that I can integrate well into the team. I'm a player who really likes to stay inside the box, but I can play outside of it. The important thing is to say that my main characteristic is my commitment in training and in games. That's what I enjoy doing most," said the striker.
Even though he spent most of his life in his home country, Borja is well acquainted with the history of great Flamengo teams. Last year, when he was already playing in Brazilian football, the striker revealed that he was fascinated by the strength of the six-time champion team.
"Everyone knows a little bit about Flamengo. Since childhood, everyone has heard about the club, the great players who have played here, and the titles. Last year I followed the Brazilian Championship and saw the joy of the biggest fan base in Brazil," said the player, who has already played for four Brazilian clubs despite his young age.
"I played for several Brazilian teams. I've practically spent my entire career in Brazil. And I hope to continue working here for a long time," he concluded.
