Specific reinforcements and the Training Center are the priorities for 2010
The core squad is maintained, but players and staff are waiting for reinforcements to go all out in the fight for the Libertadores.

However, although Adriano, Andrade, and Petkovic remain at Gávea, Flamengo is expected to have two important losses from the six-time national champions' squad. Midfielder Airton and forward Zé Roberto are unlikely to remain with the club next season. Therefore, players and coaching staff point out that specific signings for these positions, and perhaps one or two other reinforcements, are needed for the team to have a 2010 as good as, or even better than, 2009.
As usual, speculation has dominated the Flamengo news this holiday season. There have been numerous rumors of signings and possible departures... But so far, only two players are practically out of Gávea: Airton and Zé Roberto. Aware of this, the club's directors and coaching staff are already rushing to bolster the squad.
"We'll wait and see who comes and goes. But we have to replace the departure of important players like Airton and Zé Roberto," analyzed coach Andrade, who should have three new players in his squad promoted from the youth team during the preseason: midfielders João Vitor and Wellington Pecka, as well as striker Diego Maurício.
Defender Ronaldo Angelim, who went from being just another supporting player to becoming the hero of the sixth title with the winning goal in the 2-1 victory over Grêmio on December 6th, the final round of the Brazilian Championship, has yet to renew his contract, but continues to maintain his desire to stay at Gávea. Despite this, his defensive partner and scorer of the other goal in that match, David, is worried.
"We have to wait and see if Ronaldo stays, there's also Fabrício, who gave an interview saying he was going to leave... We'll wait for that moment, but we hope that Flamengo forms a great squad so that in 2010 we can win more titles," he said.

Vagner Love – Considered by many to be Flamengo's potential big signing for 2010, striker Vagner Love, from CSKA Moscow and currently on loan to Palmeiras, has reaffirmed his desire to play for the Gávea club, of which he has been a fan since childhood, next season.
"It just depends on Palmeiras' release. There are a lot of talks going on and the chances are good. I hope everything is resolved before the end of the year. If everything goes well, I'll change the color of my braids to red by the end of the year," she said.
