King of Rio: Flamengo remains undefeated in classics in 2017

Flamengo beat Vasco 1-0 on Sunday night (8) and confirmed their invincibility in state classics in the 2017 season. Against their Rio rivals, there were twelve matches, six wins, six draws, 17 goals scored and eleven conceded.

King of Rio, the "Mais Querido" (Most Beloved) remains undefeated against its main rivals. In the Brazilian Championship, Mengão has already faced Botafogo, Fluminense, and Vasco, coming away with two draws and one win – 0-0, 2-2, and 1-0, respectively.



In the Guanabara Cup, the first competition of the year, Flamengo beat Botafogo and Vasco – 2-1 and 1-0 – and drew with Fluminense 3-3 in the final of the first round.



In the return leg of the State Championship, the Rio Cup, Flamengo had three draws, two against Vasco (2-2 and 0-0) and one against Fluminense at the Kléber Andrade stadium (1-1).

The 2017 Campeonato Carioca finals saw Flamengo win 100% of their matches. At a packed Maracanã Stadium, Flamengo defeated Botafogo 2-1 in the semifinals. Flamengo then faced Fluminense in the first leg of the final, winning 1-0. In the return leg, Rio de Janeiro was once again painted red and black: 2-1 and the title.
