Flamengo finished the Campeonato Carioca undefeated, and the derbies were no different. With five wins and four draws, the beloved team didn't lose and comes out of the State Championship with a positive record against its rivals.

Six different players have scored for Flamengo in derbies in the current edition of the Campeonato Carioca. The top scorer is Paolo Guerrero, who has scored four goals, three against Botafogo and one against Fluminense. Éverton is second along with William Arão, both with three. In addition to them, Orlando Berrío, Diego and Rodinei have each scored one goal.

During the season, Flamengo beat Botafogo twice, both times by a score of 2-1. Against Fluminense, there were two draws and two wins, the latter by a score of 1-0. Against Vasco, Flamengo had one win, by a score of 1-0, and two draws.

The first classic match of the Campeonato Carioca was against Botafogo during the Taça Guanabara. Playing at the Engenhão stadium, Éverton and Guerrero secured a 2-1 victory and three points. In the state championship semi-final, the teams faced each other again and, once more, Flamengo emerged victorious. With two goals from the Peruvian striker at the Maracanã, Flamengo advanced to the final.

Against Vasco, in the Guanabara Cup semi-final, Diego scored a penalty and secured Flamengo's victory. Then, two draws: the first at the Mané Garrincha stadium, 2-2, with goals from Orlando Berrío and William Arão; the other was at the Maracanã, in the Rio Cup semi-final, when the teams drew 0-0 and the opponent ended up qualifying.

Against Fluminense, Flamengo drew in the first round final of the Taça Guanabara in regulation time. Despite goals from William Arão, Éverton, and Guerrero, the "Mais Querido" (Most Beloved) lost on penalties. Then, in the final round of the Taça Rio, at the Kléber Andrade stadium in Cariacica, Flamengo equalized again, this time with a goal from Arão, making it 1-1.

In the grand final of the Campeonato Carioca, Flamengo defeated Fluminense in the first leg, when Éverton, with his left foot and into the top corner, scored the winning goal for the red-and-black team, securing an advantage for the second leg.

Returning to the Maracanã for the second leg, Flamengo fell behind, but Paolo Guerrero managed to equalize in the second half. Completing the celebration for the fans in the stands, Rodinei scored in the final moments, securing a 2-1 victory and the Rio de Janeiro state championship title.
