Renato's happiness and ecstasy after scoring his first goal for Flamengo since returning to the Gávea club gave way to his down-to-earth confidence and the certainty that he can still do much more for the Rubro-Negro this Monday (20.09). The midfielder gave a press conference in Gávea and spoke about the moment he is experiencing wearing the number 11 jersey of the Mais Querido again. Confident, he predicts individual and group improvement in the coming rounds.
"I know I need to improve a lot. I made some mistakes in passing, I tried to put my teammates in front of goal, but you're not going to score in every game. I'm happy with the goal and the run of results we've had. It's about being able to work and improve with each round," he said.
The supporter believes that the resilience demonstrated upon his return is the main positive point of these first games with the Flamengo shirt in 2010. According to him, while he is no longer the same player physically, his spirit of dedication remains the same on the field.
"It's an answer to myself. What I said is that the Renato of today is different because of his age. Not just me, but any 32-year-old player. It's a specialty I have, and we can't lose that. The power to overcome, to give of oneself, etc. Many people helped me: the priest's blessing, the fans, my family. This moment of overcoming is immense. I want to do much more. It's the beginning of my return, and that's the most important thing: knowing that I won't be able to score goals and win for Flamengo in every game. But I'll always give my all in every game," observed the midfielder, confident of a surge in the Brasileirão.
"We've gone three games without losing, and that's a very important record. It was a tough game against Fluminense. We were ahead twice, and we could have come away with a positive result, but we ended up drawing," he added.
