The operation on midfielder Renato Augusto, who suffered a sunken and fractured cheekbone in yesterday's match against Boavista, was deemed a success by Dr. Augusto César Lima. The surgery, performed at Pasteur Hospital in Méier, lasted three hours. To correct the sunken cheekbone and reduce the fracture, doctors placed three titanium plates and 11 screws in the player's face. He has already been taken to a hospital room and will be able to return home on Wednesday.

"Renato was calm and wanted surgery quickly to get rid of the problem. It's an uncommon injury in soccer players, and I believe he'll be able to return to action in six to seven weeks," explained Dr. Augusto.

According to the doctor, Renato Augusto will spend ten days without any type of activity. After this period, he will be able to do physical exercises, which will help him maintain his fitness.

- Everything went as planned. Now we just have to wait the necessary time so he can return to his usual performance - commented the doctor.
