Striker Val Baiano owes much of his recent success with Flamengo to his supporter, Renato. After all, the number 11 provided both passes that allowed the center forward to score twice in the 2-2 draw with Avaí in Santa Catarina last weekend. And Renato himself left Ressacada happy with the assists, especially because they were for his teammate, whom he sees training hard every day.
According to him, the pressure on the striker was excessive. The midfielder only regretted not leaving Florianópolis with two more points on the table.
"In the last game, I made two good passes and was very happy, even more so because they led to Val's goals. The pressure on him was heavy and unfair. Unfortunately, we conceded the equalizer, Avaí grew in the second half, but we still earned an important point away from home," said the supporter, who also analyzed his individual performance.
"When I said that Renato today isn't the same as he was in his first stint, it's because back then I was scoring a lot of goals. I have 47 goals here, a great record for a midfielder. I knew the fans would demand goals, and today the team has changed, as have I. We have a quality attack, players who were top scorers for their clubs, and I don't have as much responsibility for putting the ball in. Even so, I demand a lot from myself and take great care of myself to always do my best," he noted.
An important player within the group, due to his experience and leadership, as well as his good humor, Renato says that the key is for the squad to be in harmony and achieve results on the field, regardless of who scores the goals or provides the assists.
"When I arrived, I hadn't played for two months. My mood was always the same. Maybe because of the assists, it might have seemed like I played better, but I think it was the same. I'll never think about me, always about us," he added.
