Renato celebrates another goal in his specialty
"Gávea Cannon" proves he's still sharp and helps Fla beat Inter, at Engenhão
By From the team at Flamengo's official website - inGávea Cannon, Atomic Kick... Renato has earned many nicknames for his powerful left-footed shot. And it was precisely with another one of his specialties, free kicks, that the number 11 helped Flamengo thrash Inter 3-0 at the Engenhão stadium this Saturday.
The shot was far away, and some journalists and fans criticized Colorado goalkeeper Renan, who allegedly jumped late. Renato disagrees and prefers to praise his own merits. Furthermore, he emphasizes that there is no success without hard work.
"I think it was all thanks to me. I hit the ball well and it went quickly into the corner. I've been perfecting it in training, but what matters is the team's dedication. We showed the attitude Vanderlei asked for on the field. We have to maintain that," he said.
The supporter believes that the victory should be celebrated by the red-blacks and sees the result as proof of the red-blacks' strength for the rest of the championship.
"We have to celebrate this result, yes, but with caution. We managed to do what the committee asked, we had a good week and we went in focused on the objective against Inter. We won and we're on the right track," he concluded.
