This is a time of improvement for Renato and Leandro Amaral. After making their Flamengo debut over the weekend against Ceará, the two have been working hard over the past few days to improve their fitness: they've done gym sessions, trained on the beach, and also worked on technical and tactical skills with their teammates on the Ninho do Urubu pitch.
For fitness coach Toninho Oliveira, the players are improving every day and should grow even more as they gain game rhythm, which should happen quickly, as next week the team will return to action both in the middle and on the weekend.
"They're improving every day. Now with this increased number of games, I believe they'll only grow. Let's wait and see how they react, but as they gain game rhythm, they should improve," he said.
Renato remembers that the wear and tear in the opening match was significant and believes that he is still behind the rest of the squad in terms of physical fitness, but he is confident that in a week or two he will be able to play his best football.
"We were very tired in the game against Ceará, but I'm improving my fitness. I'm still far from the players in the group, but we had a good week, with beach and some ball training, and I believe I'll improve day by day. Every week, I'm improving significantly, and I hope to be in shape in another week or two," added the number 11.
