After a successful stint as a player, Renato Gaúcho is back at Flamengo! Early in the afternoon of this Monday (12), Portaluppi was introduced at Ninho do Urubu as the new coach of the Mais Querido. The new red-black commander will face the disputes of the Brazilian Championship, Copa do Brasil and Libertadores. Check out some excerpts from the press conference:

Renato Gaucho
"It's a great pleasure to be here, having this opportunity to coach this great club. Two or three years ago, I said I had this dream, and today I'm making it come true. I think every coach should dream big. Coaching Flamengo is the same as coaching the Brazilian national team."

The excitement of being at Flamengo
"It's exciting. Today, leading Flamengo is a title I haven't yet achieved as a coach. I still remember doing the lap of honor at Maracanã in '87 as a player. I hope that with this group, now as a coach, I can realize that dream."

Sentence
"Two or three years ago, I said my dream was to coach Flamengo, because of their greatness. It's a joy. Every coach dreams of one day coaching Flamengo, and now I'm realizing that dream. I'm very excited, I told Braz and Spindel about it. Returning to Flamengo, to Maracanã, and being alongside this winning team, above all. I hope the fans can return to Maracanã; I know how strong they are every time we face each other."

Wherever I go, I enjoy working with the kids. Just yesterday at Maracanã, I spoke with the people here at the club and asked to schedule today's training session against the kids so I could observe them. I don't have to bring on a kid, but it has to be at the right time so I don't burn him out. Whenever I feel it's time for him to be used, it will happen."

Return to Flamengo
"When I played for Grêmio, I dreamed of one day playing for Flamengo, at the Maracanã, alongside my great idol, Zico. In '87, I was able to fulfill that dream. When it comes to Flamengo, everyone who dreams big dreams of playing for or coaching Flamengo. As a player, I fulfilled that dream. And as a coach, I will continue that work."

Cast evaluation
"The squad is wonderful, very strong. If we're going to win everything, we'll work for it. Palmeiras, Atlético-MG, and other teams also want to win everything. What club enters a competition and doesn't want to win? But the red-and-black squad is strong, yes. Did we lose some players? We did. But it's still very strong."
