Flamengo returned to Ninho do Urubu and began preparations for the match against São Paulo next Sunday. After the intense work at the Training Center this Tuesday (30) under the command of Dorival Júnior, left-back Renê spoke to the press about the final stretch of the Brazilian Championship and his moment at Mais Querido.

"We know we can't afford to slip up in these last seven games. Reaching first place became a bit harder after that draw against Palmeiras, but we've already started the week working hard. We need to get back to winning to dream about the title, but we need to get back to winning soon. The match against São Paulo will be complicated and against a great opponent, but the goal is to win everything, both at home and away, because we know that's the only way we can win this title," analyzed the full-back. "We'll work game by game. There's no point in thinking we'll beat Botafogo if we have São Paulo first. We managed three consecutive wins and unfortunately drew the last one even though we played better. Our team is on a very good upward trajectory, now it's about maintaining focus and concentration. We have everything to finish this year celebrating," he concluded.

Thinking about collective and individual performance, Renê praised the team's progress in 2018. “In our profession, we are evolving and growing every day. I believe this team still has more to give. We've been giving our all in recent games, playing well. Unfortunately, there are days when things don't go as planned, but we continue working day after day to improve. For me, it's been a good year. Although it's not over yet, I hope to improve even more by the end of the championship. I've had good progress since last year, as it was a year of adaptation. I knew the difficulty; in a club of Flamengo's stature, we fight for our positions every day. I try to improve every day, I had a good run this year and took advantage of the chances I was given. I hope to always help individually and collectively. I want us to win the title, because that's what will be remembered,” he said.

Since Dorival Júnior's arrival, Flamengo has conceded only one goal and managed to score in all of them. When asked about this, the number 6 player spoke about the team's collective performance. “It's not just a defensive effort. Dorival is a guy who demands a lot from the attackers who also press high up the pitch. We're conceding less at the back because of this help. We work on the defensive line with the assistant coach, who is always guiding us to improve. We need to correct the small errors that still happen. This has helped us, and I hope to improve these numbers even more, because not conceding goals helps us even more to achieve victory,” concluded Renê.

Flamengo returns to the field on Sunday (4), at 17 pm, against São Paulo at Morumbi. All tickets are already sold out for Flamengo fans.
