Renê talks about his good form, the schedule, the classic and his confidence in Dourado before the Fla-Flu match

Flamengo continues its preparations for the classic against Fluminense, for the Brazilian Championship, this Thursday, in Brasília, at 20 pm. Six points separate the teams in the table. Leader Flamengo has 20 and can open up the gap to the others even further. With three rounds left before the break before the World Cup, the Mais Querido will still face Paraná, at home, next Sunday (10) and Palmeiras, in São Paulo, next Wednesday (13).
Before Tuesday's training session, left-back Renê spoke to reporters at a press conference held in the Victorino Chermont press room at the George Helal Training Center. Now in excellent form and a regular starter at the position, Renê outlined the key ingredients for the current situation, consistently emphasizing the team's collective spirit as a key factor in their current success.
"I believe that trust is the most important thing. Without trust, we can't do a good job. With the help of my teammates, I've been improving with each game and so I can give more to the team. The interaction with the My teammates and the coach also have a lot of weight. Last year everything was new. I didn't have a run of form either, but during the offseason I prepared well to have a great year. Now I have a run of form, and the most important thing is the team being together. Football is a collective effort. When I'm good, it's because the team is good. I have even more to give to this team," said the number 6.
The classic was also a topic of discussion at the press conference. Flamengo and Fluminense have faced each other twice this year, with one draw and one win for Flamengo, both in the state championship. The scenario is quite different now, but for Renê, Flamengo-Fluminense is always decided by the details.
"We expect a tough game. A classic is different. They're decided by details. We're working on Fluminense's weaknesses to bring out our best tomorrow. It'll be a tough game, but with the fans putting on a great show, we hope to finish with a win," analyzed the full-back, who also spoke about the fact that the match will be played outside of Rio de Janeiro.
"Whenever we can play at home or nearby, it's better. Because of the schedule and the busy schedule, even away from home, we know we'll have a crowd that will support us. We don't have much time to work, we're used to it. But now it's time to give it our all. We have three games ahead and then we can take advantage of the World Cup break to rest a bit," he added.
Renê has changed his playing style this season. Supporting heavily, but without losing his strength at the back, the full-back confesses that he prefers to defend, but praised Mauricio Barbieri's system, which allows him and Rodinei to push forward without leaving gaps in the red-and-black defense.
"I like defending more. That's where I have the utilization better. At the beginning of career, I used to just attack, and now I've started defending more. I've balanced it so I can do both. With Paulo Cesar Carpegiani, the team preferred to attack more. Mauricio Barbieri, however, asks us to balance it a bit more, going one way and then the other, calmly and at the right time," he explained.

Henry Gold
We know it is difficult a striker of the level of him passing several games without scoring a goal. We try to help, in training and in games. It's just a phase. Goal before the World Cup break
The goal is always victory. The Brazilian Championship is very even. We'll have two away games, one of which will be a derby. We'll take it game by game to get three wins and finish with a nice cushion.
