Renê preaches humility in the reunion with Boavista: "It will be a difficult game"
Full-back comments on the possibility of goalkeeper Julio Cesar's return
By Matheus Oliveira - inBefore the red-and-black delegation traveled to Volta Redonda, where the match against Boavista will take place, left-back Renê appeared in the Victorino Chermont Press Room to give a press conference. The conversation with reporters took place after the tactical training session that concluded the preparation for the match.
Renê praised Wednesday's opponent (06), recalling the difficulties created mainly in the initial stage of the duel won by Mais Querido 2-0, which decided the Guanabara Cup. "Boavista is a team of great quality, with players who played in several big clubs. It will be a difficult game. We saw in the first half, in Cariacica, that they gave us a lot of work. But in the second half we managed to play our game better and we need to work on that", he commented.
In another match at Raulino de Oliveira Stadium, the expectation is a good crowd. However, in many of the matches held throughout the championship, the reality is different. The full-back lamented the low average attendance at Campeonato Carioca matches, hoping fans will return to the stadiums.
"Whenever we see the stadium with few fans, we feel sad. Because of the violence, we see fewer and fewer families and children. We'll try to do our best on the field so that, who knows, we can invite more and more fans back to sing and support us. That helps a lot," he projected.
Despite the two Rio Cup matches that precede the Red-Blacks' return to the CONMEBOL Libertadores, the match against Emelec-EQU was one of the topics discussed during the interview. Emphasizing the need to take things one game at a time, Renê commented on the need for improved performance to achieve a good result away from home.
"I believe every game is decisive. We always learn something in every game and see areas for improvement. We have two more games in the Rio Cup, and there's no point in thinking about Emelec just yet. We need to play well in these two matches and work to see how we can improve to be in good shape against Emelec," he analyzed.
During the press conference, Renê also commented on the likelihood of goalkeeper Julio Cesar making his debut in his return to Mais Querido this Wednesday (07). Showering him with praise, the number 6 spoke about the privilege of training every day alongside a red-black idol, experienced and with an extremely successful career.
