Reserves emphasize the importance of training matches

Players who haven't had many opportunities approve of activities that give athletes game rhythm

Bangu, Olaria, Nilópolis, Bonsucesso, Artsul, Tigres... Flamengo's reserves have been playing several practice matches, usually on the first day of training after Brazilian Championship matches. This Monday (August 16.08th) was no different. The players who were not included in the squad for Saturday's (August 14.08th) match against Ceará played a match against Tigres do Brasil and celebrated the chance to gain more game rhythm and show their worth to coach Rogério Lourenço.

Midfielder Saba, who came through the club's youth ranks, joined Flamengo's professional squad this season and is still looking for his first chance. The player revealed the differences between playing training matches and working with his teammates. According to him, this type of activity is important for athletes who don't play frequently.

"Normal training is usually on a reduced-size field, and between us it's not the same as facing a different opponent. It's a simulation of a game and gives the player much more rhythm," he said.

David, who returned to action last Saturday and is expected to start next week, also played against Tigres, aiming to gain more game rhythm. Having not played in two months, the defender believes this type of activity can help.

"It's important to work. I've been training hard and this week will be a good one for me to continue preparing. As I said before, I want to be a starter for Flamengo again, and to get there again, I know I'll need to work hard," he noted.

This Tuesday (17.08), the red-black team returns to training, at the club's Training Center, Ninho do Urubu, in Vargem Grande.
