Flamengo's senior team had a busy week. With three games in five days, the red-and-black team had to overcome their challenges and secure their place in the second phase of the State Championship, playing at home.
The first game of the week was on Monday (October 20th) in Niterói, against the Canto do Rio team. In a tense game, with comebacks, two red cards for each side and many complaints about the refereeing, the Flamengo team ended up drawing the game 10-5. The result ended up making the victory in the derby against Vasco da Gama essential for a good qualification for the second phase of the tournament.
On Wednesday (October 22), Flamengo took to the court again, this time at home and behind closed doors, to face Vasco da Gama. And the victory, necessary for a good qualification, came. Despite being weakened by the red-and-black team's red-and-black players, the team won 10-7.
On Friday (24/10), the Gávea team played the last game of the first phase against the Grajaú team, in Gávea. With some players rested due to yellow cards, the Flamengo team won 5-2 and guaranteed second place in their group and qualification for the second phase of the competition.
