Next Wednesday (02.06), Flamengo will face Palmeiras, away from home, in the Brasileirão. And to try to seek the first away victory in the competition, the Rubro-negro will have the return of three players: Fernando, Toró and Michael. Without counting on David and Camacho, suspended for the third yellow card, Rogério Lourenço hopes to arrive stronger in São Paulo.
"Against Palmeiras, we have Fernando, Toró, and Michael back, and Álvaro and Maldonado are already back. We have more players returning than leaving the team. We know Camacho and David won't be able to play due to their third yellow card. But the situation is already improving with the return of these players I mentioned," said Rogério.
And in addition to having more options to assemble the team, the Flamengo coach believes that the team will, once again, show better football than in the last game, against Grêmio.
"We still have to adjust the team. That's happening, and I'm pleased. Obviously, we wanted to win the last match. We also know we need to work hard to get everything right. That way, we'll be able to get up there and fight for the top spots. The Brasileirão is very balanced. We know we need to earn points at home and away. That's the plan. We didn't get the win on Sunday, but we'll try to bring back the three points from São Paulo."
When asked if he is concerned about the lack of match rhythm of some players in the red-black squad, Rogério admits the problem, but explains that it will be resolved with the sequence of games.
"Some players haven't played for a long time, so they're lacking rhythm. I wanted us to dominate the midfield against Grêmio, as they started playing with just one striker in the second half. I changed things up, bringing in Ramon and Gil to strengthen that area," he concluded.
