After the match between Flamengo and Santos at Ilha do Urubu, which ended in a 2-0 victory for Flamengo in the first leg of the Copa do Brasil quarterfinals, Flamengo captain Réver spoke to journalists in the stadium's mixed zone. With a near-perfect defensive performance, Flamengo achieved one of the main objectives of the night, which was to not concede any goals at home.

Réver praised the team's performance in that area, highlighting their organization, which prevented the opponent from creating many chances. "This shows that our team was very compact. A Santos team, with great players, creating few chances shows that our team marked strongly, didn't give space to players who could put the attackers in front of the goal. This shows that we were attentive. May we have this same attentiveness in the next game, because Santos will come forward and end up leaving more spaces than tonight," said the defender.
The return match was also one of the topics addressed by the captain, discussing the upcoming duel against the São Paulo team at Vila Belmiro, which will be played on July 26th. "It's difficult to play against Santos anywhere, not just at home. They're a team with very good ball possession. We know it will be a completely different game, with Santos trying to speed up the game in any way possible to try and get a result, and us trying to score a goal to give us an even bigger advantage. It will be a completely different game from this one, a new decisive match," he analyzed.
Juan, Réver's defensive partner until the middle of the second half, left the field with discomfort in his hamstring and was replaced by Rafael Vaz. Despite lamenting his teammate's departure, Réver expressed confidence in whichever player will fill the position left vacant by the number 4.
"We were saddened by the way Juan left the game. In the last game, I was the one who left in that manner. I hope it's nothing serious, that he'll be available on Sunday. Regardless of who plays, we know they have the coach's confidence, which is a fundamental point for our team. I hope Zé has everyone available so that we can continue our run in the Brazilian Championship, which is one of our objectives," he concluded.
In the Brazilian Championship, Mais Querido will face the São Paulo team, in another match that will be played at Ilha do Urubu. This Sunday (02), the ball will roll for the confrontation starting at 16pm.
