Tuesday morning (20) was a special visit to Fla Memória. The red-black captain, defender Réver, was at the club's headquarters in Gávea to deliver the Guanabara Cup trophy to the exhibition collection. He also met with fan members and president Eduardo Bandeira de Mello.

"It's always good to start the year with a title. We're very happy with this achievement; we know it could be the first of many this season. We have important competitions ahead of us, and we'll dedicate ourselves and give our all in pursuit of these titles so we can have a very productive year. There's nothing better than having a good year with trophies. Now we have a run in the Campeonato Carioca, fighting for the title, and also thinking about the Libertadores," he said about the first title of 2018.

With full focus on the Rio Cup and the Copa Libertadores debut, Réver assured that the Mais Querido is ready. "We need to always be prepared. Opportunities arise, and we must be ready to seize them to avoid the risk of elimination like last year. Everyone is very focused so that, next Wednesday, we can give our best, as we are doing now. We want perfection in our Copa Libertadores debut against a great team to have a good run and a wonderful year, which is our main goal," he said.

With a title under his belt and a distinguished career, Réver will be one of the most experienced players on Flamengo's Libertadores squad. Sharing the field with many promising Garotos do Ninho players, the captain understands the importance of everyone being on the same page.

"I'm one of the experienced players, but we have other players who know how to handle this situation very well. All the kids are eager and showing interest not only on the field, but off it as well. They want to learn about different situations so they can go into matches and know exactly what to do. We try to communicate as much as possible so that, in difficult moments, we can even look at each other and know what needs to be done. That way, we know we'll go far in the competitions," he said.

Looking ahead to the season and commenting on the start of his work alongside coach Paulo César Carpegiani, Réver said he expects a positive year, in addition to seeing a team that already shows characteristics of the new manager. 

"Expectations are always the best possible, especially here at Flamengo. It's a team with tradition, always entering competitions strong, and this year will be no different. In the seven matches we've played this year, Carpegiani has already shaped the team to his liking. They're a very gritty team in defense and light from midfield forward. This has already had an effect, and I hope we can continue this throughout the year," he commented.

During the visit to Fla Memória and the presentation of the trophy to the exhibition collection, the captain was accompanied by president Bandeira de Mello and fan club members who earned points for the experience. "It's something that will remain etched in my memory forever. These are the moments we so desperately seek. Being welcomed by a wonderful crowd, the club president willing to come and help. These are things you can't buy. Having this recognition not only from the fans but also from the board is wonderful. I hope it stays this way throughout my career at Flamengo, with many trophies," added Réver.

Flamengo returns to the field this Wednesday (21), when they face Madureira, at 19:30 pm, at the Nilton Santos stadium.
