Alongside Réver in the center of defense, defender Rhodolfo had a great performance in the Guanabara Cup final that took place this Sunday (18) against Boavista. In addition to the team's consistent offensive performance, the defense demonstrated security, a characteristic that has been the tone of the sector in the first round of Carioca.

Despite his strong performance, the number 44 advocates humility for the rest of the season, especially with his sights set on his debut in the CONMEBOL Libertadores Bridgestone. Against River Plate at the Engenhão stadium, he will take his first step in the international competition.

"We still have a lot to improve. We talked in the locker room. It was worth it for the title, but there's a lot ahead. We're getting into sync now. We're going to gel as a team and try to improve a lot," commented the defender.

O Mais Querido will be without Cuéllar for the match against the Argentine team. Suspended after being sent off in last season's CONMEBOL Sudamericana final, the midfielder will serve the first of his two-game suspension in the match. Rhodolfo outlined the difficulties that could arise from his absence, but emphasized that he will do everything he can to ensure it doesn't become a serious issue.

"Cuéllar is our only defensive midfielder who's been playing, so we need to sacrifice a little more, and so do the defenders. We're losing a little in the marking. We have to get back into sync as quickly as possible. Carpegiani has been talking to us. We need to train even harder," he noted.

The Mais Querido's debut in the continent's most important tournament will be on February 28th. However, two clashes for the Taça Rio will precede the match. This Wednesday (21), Flamengo will face the Madureira team, with the ball rolling from 19:30 pm.
