Playing in their gym, Flamengo's youth teams hosted Vasco da Gama and achieved good results in the 2008 State Futsal Championship.
The under-09 and under-13 teams defeated Cruzmaltino by scores of 5-3 and 7-4, respectively. The under-11 team left the court with a 3-3 draw. With the weekend's results, Flamengo took the lead in its group in all three categories. In the next round, the first of the second half, Flamengo hosts the teams from Portuguesa.
In a classic against Fluminense, the under-15 and under-17 teams were defeated. In the under-15 competition, the red-and-black team was playing well until their opponent opened the scoring in the second half. From then on, they had a player and the coach sent off and ended up losing the match 4-0.
The U-17 team also started well, opening the scoring. However, they stalled there and ended up losing 3-1. Flamengo has a tough task ahead of them in the next round, the first of the second half. Their opponents are the strong teams from the Pentagon.
The youth team faced Vasco da Gama, playing in Petrópolis, and ended up losing 5-3. The team's next opponent is Cabo Frio, away from home, in a double round, along with the adult team's game.
The Flamengo girls also faced Vasco da Gama and were defeated 5-1. In the next round, the first of the return leg, they host the Mackenzie team.
The adult team entered the court on Friday (19/9) and beat the Drogaria do Povo team 5-1, at home. On Monday (22/9), the red-black team entered the court again, this time against Vasco da Gama, for the match that had been suspended due to crowd disturbances in São Januário.
The game, which was played behind closed doors, was held at the América court by order of the Rio de Janeiro Futsal Federation. The match ended in a 3-3 draw. Flamengo's next opponent is Cabo Frio, the group leader.
