Flamengo's U-17s continue their bid for the Adidas Generation Cup in Dallas, USA. The competition is crucial for the category and features some of the world's top teams, in addition to Flamengo. This Thursday, the "Mais Querido" faces River Plate in the semifinals at 18 p.m. (Brasília time). The match will be broadcast on the MLS YouTube channel. 

In the final game, which sealed Flamengo's qualification, midfielder Rodrigo Muniz scored a stunning goal, a contender for the best goal of the year and in the competition's history. In the first half, he received the ball in midfield and noticed the opposing goalkeeper was ahead. From there, he fired a shot over the goalkeeper, earning Flamengo's second goal of the match, which ended 3-1. Rodrigo said he saw the opportunity and took the shot without fear of being lucky. 

"I was very confident because I had already scored my first goal and was doing well in the match. Thank God, I was lucky with my shot. I always wanted to try a shot like that, but I never had the opportunity," said the player, who was constantly receiving congratulations for his amazing goal, as well as tips from his teammates.

"I received a lot of messages from my friends and family. The coaching staff talked to me and told me to keep my head on straight because this could be a trap," Rodrigo said.  

Flamengo is coming into Thursday's match with momentum. They've won three of their matches in Group B of the Champions League. River Plate has won two and drawn one in Group A. The other semifinal is between Atlético-PR and Pachuca, Mexico.
