It was impossible to hide his emotion. Upon returning to Gávea after 15 years, Roger remembered his Flamengo youth days and confessed to realizing a childhood dream. Signed as the team's newest addition for the Brazilian Championship, the supporter donned the red-and-black jersey with a sense of certainty.

"This is the true sacred mantle. The other shirts are mantles, but only Flamengo's is sacred," said Roger. "A page of my career was blank. I will do my best to win over the fans and win titles."

When asked about having played for several years at Fluminense, Roger did not shy away from the past, but seemed more concerned with the present.

"I thank Fluminense for everything it has given me throughout my career, but today I'm back to being that kid who started playing here and always lived with a whole family of red-and-black fans. That's why I feel so emotional."

Roger's performance was truly emotional. The star also recalled the support he received when his sister, gymnast Úrsula Flores, suffered an accident that prevented her from continuing her career.

"Kleber Leite (vice president of football) was a great friend during my sister's accident and also now that I'm in dispute with Corinthians. That's why I didn't think twice about contacting him when I received the letter allowing me to seek another club."

Roger will be on loan at Flamengo until December 31st. If Flamengo wants to sign him permanently, they'll have to pay US$500. For president Márcio Braga, Roger will have the chance to shine again for Flamengo.

- He started here when he was 11, left later, but left his sister. Now he's back at his peak to shine at Flamengo.

Vice-president of football Kleber Leite said he had no doubts about Roger's success in the red and black shirt.

"It's a pleasure to have a distinguished professional like Roger. He's the epitome of Flamengo. It's a special day for me to be able to bring in a professional and a person of this caliber."
