Flamengo is the team that has made the most misplaced passes in the Brazilian Championship: 524. However, for coach Rogério Lourenço, this statistic shouldn't be viewed pessimistically. The Flamengo coach prefers to see the statistics from a positive perspective, that is, that the team has been trying to create plays and has been enjoying more possession than its opponents.

The manager does not minimize the importance of getting the passes right, but also warns that a bad pass can sometimes be the result of a more daring attempt at a play and emphasizes that the team that tries the most also tends to make the most mistakes.

"This proves we're trying, and since we have very high-quality players like Leo Moura, Juan, and Petkovic, they often miss difficult passes, attempting plays that could leave a teammate facing the goal. For example, not to belittle Gilberto Silva, but at one point, he was the best passer in the World Cup. But you have to look at the type of passes too. They were sideways passes, out of bounds. In other words, these statistics can be very misleading," he analyzed.

The coach, however, recognizes that his team needs to work more on this fundamental, not only with the players who make the passes, but also with those who receive them.

"A passing error isn't always the fault of the player. If the receiver isn't moving and controlling the ball, the error will still happen. Passing is the most important fundamental of football, and you always have to work to improve. It's no different for us," he added.
