Rogério analyzes Flamengo's return to the Brazilian Championship
Coach doesn't hide his satisfaction with victories, but keeps his feet on the ground regarding the future

Flamengo couldn't have returned to the Brazilian Championship in better style. After the competition was suspended for the World Cup in June, Flamengo had over a month to work, and the results of the offseason are already being reaped in the first rounds of the Brasileirão. With two wins in as many matches, Flamengo has moved into the top four and shown that it will defend its title tooth and nail.
For coach Rogério Lourenço, the team played applause-worthy football against Atlético Goianiense and achieved a result they should be proud of. The coach, however, expressed reservations, noting that the team retreated more than necessary in the second half and was cautious when discussing the future, noting that there is still much to come in the competition.
"The team played evenly. Even though they were a little behind, they could have killed the game. It's great to restart this stage of the competition with two wins. We achieved a great result," he said.
One of the positive aspects Rogério analyzed was the development of the players emerging from the club's youth academy. Just look at key data from these last two rounds. With Marcelo Lomba in goal and Welinton in defense, the team didn't concede a goal. They scored two. One in the derby against Botafogo, scored by Paulo Sérgio, with an assist from Vinícius Pacheco. The other in the match against Dragão was scored by Petkovic, but from a penalty kick won by Diego Maurício.
"In football, in general, it's common to have this mix of experienced and young players. We're still at the beginning of the competition, but we can already see improved productivity from these young players, from the players who were raised at the club. I'm happy about that. Especially because the team played consciously and evenly," he added.
Rogério Lourenço and the Flamengo group will return this Monday (19.07), at 15 pm, in Gávea. The red-blacks will already begin work to face Avaí, Wednesday (21.07), at 21 pm, in Maracanã.
